Ideal for a family reunion or corporate retreat, this house has an official sleeping capacity of 13. A spacious living room and kitchen allow for serving up to 30 people. Five bedrooms total, the main floor bedroom contains a queen and a twin bed. Three bedrooms upstairs are usually configured with two twin beds each. The last upstairs bedroom contains two queen beds and a seating area. There are two full bathrooms in the house (1st floor and 2nd floor) and also an upstairs hallway vanity with sink. Many family reunion groups tuck in extra children in the spacious living room and the ample bedrooms. We only provide linens for the beds we have, if you bring extra beds (air mattresses, cots, etc.) you must provide your own linens for those. Oakridge offers full amenities, including A/C, TV and DVD player, iron and ironing board, family friendly games, and library. The kitchen is fully-equipped and serves up to 30 people. It includes a full-size refrigerator, stove, dining tables, microwave, coffee pot, basic pots and pans, and tableware. This private yard include a bonfire ring, charcoal grill, and picnic tables. The yard is great for family games such as basketball, croquet, and horseshoes. Trails are located out the back door and fishing ponds are within walking distance. Our newly renovated Rookery Cottage is a quiet retreat in the heart of the Middle Raccoon River Valley. Situated on our private acreage, this rustic cottage overlooks a prairie and vegetable garden. Then, return to relax by a campfire and enjoy dark skies perfect for stargazing. A "rookery" is a nesting site for herons, a bird that prefers quiet, undisturbed habitat near water. And so the Rookery Cottage seeks to provide a quiet, natural escape from the daily grind. This building used to be a flower shop and was built using reclaimed barn board and other re-purposed materials. We converted it to a guesthouse but kept a lot of the rustic charm. It sleeps 6 with two queen beds and a plush, new futon. Heated floors (redone winter 2021) and an air conditioner keep you comfy in every season. The kitchen is equipped with sink, mini fridge, microwave, toaster, electric skillet, utensils and coffeemaker. Alternatively, a small charcoal grill or fire pit can be used for outdoor cooking. We provide coffee, creamer/sugar and a tea assortment. Our acreage is home to dogs, chickens, cows, honey bees and a goat. We also gladly share our space with wildlife. In the evening, it is not uncommon to hear coyotes, owls, whippoorwills, tree frogs, and occasionally a bobcat. PLEASE NOTE: There is a TV/DVD player but no cable or internet in the cottage yet. However, you may access our home wifi in the yard if needed. Also, some cell phones will not have service here. Relax and unplug!
